Transitional Shelter
Our Transitional Shelter is located at 610 W Division and is on the North side of the shelter building. The Transitional Shelter provides safe and long-term housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Those seeking shelter can apply online below or in person at our Service Center.
THOSE WE CAN SERVE INCLUDE:
Single women
Heterosexual or Homosexual married couples
Single-Parent Families (regardless of the parent’s gender)
Two-Parent Families (regardless of the parent’s genders)
OVERVIEW:
Residents are assigned a Case Manager.
Residents and Case Managers work together to create individualized case plans that focus on self-sufficiency.
Residents can stay for up to nine months.
78 beds in 28 rooms.
Case Managers refer clients to local agencies and resources.
Each client has access to Mental Health Matters, a service that provides therapy to those in need.
Residents are asked to give a time commitment of 40 hours a week to begin working on their life-changing plan to reach their true potential. This commitment may include:
Attending classes that teach financial responsibility, parenting, problem solving, coping skills, job hunting techniques, and more;
Meeting with Case Managers to set goals and gauge progress;
Reducing personal debt and improve savings;
Enhancing the lives of others through community service;
Assisting with meal preparation for fellow residents;
Cleaning and site maintenance chores; and
Pursuing employment.
Residents are responsible for the care of their own children, personal meal preparation, and cleanliness.
Residents who refuse to participate in any of the time commitment requirements may lose all or part of the services we provide.
