Liz joined Hope Harbor in September 2014 and moved to the role of Executive Director in December 2016. Before joining Hope Harbor, she worked as a Marketing Coordinator for four years, and as a staffing industry Employment Coordinator for two years. She served on the board for Grand Island Community Youth Council for five years and is a previous steering committee member for Connecting Young Nebraskans. She graduated from Doane University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Communication, and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Public Administration through the University of Nebraska - Omaha. She is a graduate of Hall County Leadership Tomorrow (Class 31). Liz is a steering committee member for Project Homeless Connect and the past chair of the local Continuum of Care. She lives in Grand Island with her husband and three children.
Joe joined Hope Harbor in 2015. He was born and raised in Fremont, Nebraska, and moved to Grand Island to a half-way house for substance abuse in 1992. It was at The Friendship house where Joe changed his life and was subsequently hired as their Live-In Assistant. He also worked at Milne Detox Center until its services were merged with Mid Plains CSU. While employed at the Friendship House, Joe was a jack of all trades and helped with building and grounds improvements, health and safety issues, training non-professional staff, purchasing, dietary, and assisting with construction/contractor relations. Joe received certification through Health & Human Services as a certified Peer Support & Wellness Specialist. Joe is also a United States Parachute Association Safety and Training Advisor for Crete Skydiving Center where he’s also a free fall coach and skydiving instructor.
Jen joined Hope Harbor in April 2015 as the Administrative Assistant. Before joining Hope Harbor, she worked as a Payroll Coordinator for two years and spent seven years in the hospitality industry. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and her Associate's Degree in Accounting from Central Community College. She is the Board Secretary for Habitat for Humanity in addition to serving on its Family Support committee.
Renae joined Hope Harbor in April 2018 as the Marketing Coordinator. She grew up in Sherman County on her family’s acreage in Rockville. She has lived in New York City, New Jersey and Mexico and loves to travel whenever time permits. She has an Associate of Applied Science in Business Administration from Central Community College in Grand Island, a Diploma in Health Information Management with an emphasis in medical coding from CCC-Hastings, and her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management through Bellevue University. Throughout her life Renae worked as a radio announcer and news director. She loves music, especially polka band music, and singing the National Anthem for events. Her involvement in the community is important to her. She likes to stay busy with family and friends cooking large meals and telling stories, as well as singing in the choir at church, and helping with different charity dinners. She lives in Grand Island with her husband, Jim and daughter, Angela and one very bossy cat named, Fuzzy. She has two grown sons, Jeremiah and Joshua who live in the area.
Jodie joined Hope Harbor in March 2015. Jodie grew up in Grand Island, however she now lives outside of Grand Island with her husband John. Jodie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Kaplan University’s online program in June 2016. She was a member on Kaplan’s Student Advisory Board. Jodie is involved with Region 3’s Trauma Informed Care, Hall County Collaboration and Hall County Drug Court. She has three children Jessi, Melissa and Greg. She also has 4 grandchildren, Izek, Eleanor, Piper and Axel. Jodie and her husband enjoy spending time with family, deer hunting, camping, and working on the family farm.
Sara joined Hope Harbor’s team in June of 2017 as a Case Manager. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney with a BAS in Criminal Justice and a minor in Social Work. She has worked for agencies in the surrounding communities providing behavioral health and employment services to people with disabilities. She has a passion for helping others and enhancing the quality of life of those in need. She is active in community fellowships and enjoys being the mom of her two daughters.
Cortney joined the Hope Harbor team in October 2018 as a Direct Care Staff member. She moved into the role of Case Manager in December 2018. Cortney was born in Georgia and has lived in several states around the US. She has lived in Grand Island since 2017. Cortney has Associate of Applied Science degrees in Human Services and Drug and Alcohol Counseling from Delaware Technical and Community College. She is a provisionally Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the state of Nebraska. Cortney has worked in the mental health and addiction fields since 2016. She is pursuing her Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science at Bellevue University. Cortney has a passion for helping others see that they are valuable as individuals and can be or do anything they put their mind to. Cortney enjoys baking, crafting, and spending time with her three children.
Peachis joined the Hope Harbor team in January 2017 as the Service Coordinator. Before joining Hope Harbor, she was a Community Help Center Specialist for 3 years. She earned her Associated Degree in Human Services in 2010 from Central Community College. She is currently living in Grand Island with her daughter Treasure. Peachis enjoys volunteering in the community. She is also a board member of the Hall County Housing Authority.
Carrie Joyce - Houghtelling

Carrie was born and raised in Nebraska. She recently moved back from Arizona with her family. Carrie has extensive history with the Human Services and Criminal Justice Field. She graduated with her AAS in Human Services and her Bachelors in Science degree in Behavioral Science. Carrie is Married and has 6 kids that she and her spouse adopted from foster care. Carrie specializes in Trauma, Group Dynamics, Substance Abuse and Mental Health.
Jessica Valdez Direct Care Staff
Jessica joined the Hope Harbor staff in December 2018. She was born and raised in Missoula, Mt before moving to Columbus, Ne. in 2015. Her life has had its own ups and downs and at one point she sought help from Hope Harbor. She wanted to turn her life around and did. Promising to pay it forward. Proudly she worked for Goodwill as a Residential Specialist in the developmental Disabilities Department for one and a half years. She is working toward receiving her PLADC. Jess loves helping those in need and volunteering. She and her husband currently reside in Grand Island and have two sons.
