Hope Harbor Employment Opportunities

Community Engagement & Events Coordinator

Supervisor’s Title:

Operational Executive Director

General Summary:

Hope Harbor is seeking an organized, energetic, and relationship-driven Community Engagement & Events Coordinator to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves bringing people together, coordinating events, building community relationships, and turning ideas into action. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable creating a social media post, organizing a group of volunteers, coordinating event vendors, giving a facility tour, and helping bring a major fundraising event to life.

The Community Engagement & Events Coordinator will play an important role in connecting donors, volunteers, businesses, community partners, and supporters with Hope Harbor and our mission.

Qualifications:

An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, nonprofit management, hospitality, event management, business, human services, or a related field is preferred, but relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education.

Previous experience in event planning, volunteer coordination, fundraising, nonprofit development, community engagement, communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.

Some evening and weekend availability is required for fundraising events and community activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Events & Fundraising

  • Help lead the planning and execution of Hope Harbor’s fundraising events, including Serving Up Hope, our annual Gala, and other special events and campaigns.

  • Coordinate event timelines, vendors, registration, volunteers, décor, signage, sponsorship recognition, and other event logistics.

  • Communicate with sponsors, donors, participants, vendors, volunteers, and community partners.

  • Assist with event registration, ticketing, auction and fundraising platforms.

  • Coordinate event-day setup, volunteers, photography, communications, and logistics.

  • Help identify ways to grow event participation, sponsorships, community engagement, and fundraising results.

Volunteers & Community Engagement

  • Serve as a primary contact for individuals, businesses, churches, schools, service clubs, and other groups interested in volunteering with Hope Harbor.

  • Recruit, schedule, communicate with, and coordinate volunteers.

  • Work closely with Hope Harbor’s Operations Manager to identify volunteer opportunities related to facility needs, maintenance projects, grounds, organization, and other operational priorities.

  • Coordinate volunteer groups, service projects, donation drives, event volunteers, and other community engagement opportunities.

  • Build relationships with recurring volunteers and community organizations.

  • Help develop meaningful ways to recognize and retain Hope Harbor volunteers.

  • Conduct facility tours and help community members discover ways to become involved with Hope Harbor.

Marketing & Communications

  • Manage Hope Harbor’s day-to-day social media presence, including creating, scheduling, and publishing content.

  • Keep Hope Harbor’s website current with programs, events, employment opportunities, volunteer needs, and organizational updates.

  • Create flyers, invitations, event materials, social media graphics, signage, presentations, and other materials using Canva or similar tools.

  • Assist with newsletters, press releases, donor communications, event promotions, and organizational announcements.

  • Coordinate photography and visual content for events, programs, volunteers, donors, and community activities.

  • Help tell the story of Hope Harbor and the impact our donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners make possible.

Fundraising & Donor Support

  • Support the Operational Executive Director with fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, donor engagement, and stewardship.

  • Coordinate sponsor and donor recognition.

  • Assist with fundraising appeals, mailings, campaign materials, and special projects.

  • Maintain organized event, sponsorship, volunteer, and community engagement information.

  • Help identify opportunities to deepen relationships with volunteers, businesses, donors, and community partners.

Skills:

The right person for this role is someone who:

  • Is highly organized and can keep multiple projects and deadlines moving at the same time.

  • Enjoys meeting people and building relationships.

  • Is comfortable taking ownership of projects and working independently.

  • Can move easily between creative work and detailed logistical work.

  • Communicates professionally and confidently in writing and in person.

  • Is comfortable using social media and creating professional materials in Canva or similar platforms.

  • Is willing to learn new technology and systems.

  • Takes initiative and looks for solutions rather than waiting to be told every next step.

  • Is flexible and understands that nonprofit work sometimes requires priorities to shift.

  • Is passionate about serving the community and representing Hope Harbor professionally.
