We’ve got a very unique opening on our team! Hope Harbor is looking for an on-site Overnight Responder. This team member will live within Hope Harbor’s shelter building and be available to residents from midnight till 8am, 7 days a week. Don’t worry – this team member will not need to stay awake during this shift, but he or she must be on site and available if the need arises.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must pass a complete series of background checks
  •  Possess a High School Diploma or GED, although Human Services students or graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain these within 30 days of being hired
  • Be capable of accurately following written and verbal instructions
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively orally and through written reports
  • Ability to be reliable and punctual
  • Ability to work with persons in need in a compassionate and dignified manner
  • Ability to maintain resident, staff and volunteer confidentiality
  • Ability to de-escalate situations that may arise between residents
  • Must be able to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • ·Be available (on-site) to Emergency Shelter and transitional Shelter Residents from midnight to 8am, 7 days a week; unless prior arrangements were made with your supervisor
  • Ensure the safety of clients, staff, and facility. This may include contacting law enforcement if needed
  • Check-in Emergency Shelter residents who arrive after midnight
  • Supervise the departure of the Emergency Shelter Residents at 8am each morning
  • Receive and monitor the telephone from Direct Care Staff at midnight
  • Collect urinalysis specimens and facilitate testing with a breathalyzer as assigned and as needed
  • Perform Emergency Shelter room checks for cleanliness and/or contraband
  • Provide the Services Coordinator with the necessary intake paperwork and updates for current Emergency Shelter Residents
